How We Test Vehicles
How CouponsOffersandDeals builds its vehicle content: real seat time where applicable, specs cross-checked against OEM, EPA, NHTSA, and IIHS sources, and a plain-language verdict written for buyers, not enthusiasts.
How We Test Vehicles
COD's automotive content favors first-hand impressions and verified numbers over marketing copy. Here's the process behind the guides we publish.
1.Time with the vehicle
Where hands-on reviews are used in our guides, they start with real seat time — city streets, highway merges, and the kind of driving a buyer actually does. Where a manufacturer press program provides the vehicle, we say so.
2.Interior and cargo walkaround
Second and third rows, car-seat access, cargo behind each row, charging ports, storage, materials, and how the infotainment behaves while you're moving.
3.Specifications verified against the source
Powertrain, trim content, and pricing come from manufacturer materials. Fuel economy and electric range come from the EPA. Safety ratings and recalls come from NHTSA and IIHS.
4.Cross-shopping
We name the direct competitors a buyer will see on the same shopping trip and show how the vehicle compares on the numbers that change a payment: price, mpg or range, power, and cargo space.
5.The verdict, written for a decision
Each guide ends with a plain-language bottom line, who the vehicle or approach is best for, and who should consider something else — because guidance that won't commit doesn't help you at the dealership.
Why we don't post a star score
A single number flattens the decision. A vehicle can be right for a growing family and wrong for a commuter on the same day. Instead of a score, our guides tell you who an approach is best for and who should consider something else.
